Why Supporting Feed Nova Scotia Matters More Than Ever Before!

Why Supporting Feed Nova Scotia Matters More Than Ever Before!

In 2024, 29.3% of Nova Scotians were living in food insecure households, one of the highest rates in the country. Between July and September of 2025, Nova Scotian food banks across the province reported that 36,459 individuals from 14,641 households accessed food support 109,087 times.

With more than three million kilograms of food distributed to over 130 member agencies in 2024 alone, and rates of food insecurity increasing every year, Feed Nova Scotia’s work has become more important than ever before.

Feed Nova Scotia relies on the support of individuals, farmers, grocery retailers, corporate sponsors, and everyone in between to continue their work, both for immediate food support and advocacy, so that together, we can build a province where everyone has the ability to choose and access the food they want and need.

There are a ton of ways to support Feed Nova Scotia this holiday season including Giving Tuesday on December 2nd, the ongoing Holiday Appeal, and Stuff-A-Bus, which is happening on December 5th!

Feed Nova Scotia is fortunate to have the ongoing and generous support of organizations like REMAX NOVA for events like Stuff-A-Bus. Support from the community, especially from organizations like theirs, is invaluable both throughout this time of year and year-round. If you want to help support Feed Nova Scotia and show off your love for REMAX NOVA, here’s how you can support their food drive:  From now until December 5th, REMAX NOVA is collecting food donations at their Bedford and Dartmouth offices. Help us fill Halifax Transit buses with donations that support thousands of families through the holidays and into the new year.

Support from the community, especially from organizations like theirs, is invaluable both throughout this time of year and year-round.
