Golfing for a Cause! $40,021.47 Raised for the new IWK Emergency Room by REMAX NOVA

At REMAX NOVA, real estate isn’t just about houses, it’s about people, relationships, and giving back to the communities we serve. On June 16, we proudly hosted our first-ever charity golf tournament in support of the IWK Children’s Hospital, raising an incredible $40,021.47 for the new emergency room.

The event was a true labour of love. Held at Hartlen Point Forces Golf Club, the day brought together 36 teams for a fun-filled round of golf, complete with sponsored holes, contests, and plenty of prizes. With the beautiful sunshine on our side, the players enjoyed swag bags and a BBQ lunch. In the evening we hosted a delicious steak dinner and held an exciting auction hosted by Frankie Hollywood from FX101.9. We also had an ongoing silent auction throughout the day that left people going home with great prizes. We also had one of the teams taking the prize trophy home that will proudly display their names for years to come.

I’m so grateful to be part of a brokerage like REMAX NOVA, which aligns with the spirit of giving and fully supports any initiative that makes a difference. From day one, they were 100% behind this event, making it possible to turn an idea into a record-breaking fundraiser. I’d like to thank REMAX NOVA agents, the staff, the marketing team and the amazing owners for their limitless support and contributions. I’d like to directly highlight the agents that volunteered their time throughout the planning process as well as during the event: Hailey Millesse, Brennagh Gaunt, Joyce Clarke, Julia Fauteux, Fran Grant, Candice Blaney, Hayley Carter, Wassim Klayme, Rachael Palmer, Tracy Stone and Nancy Skinner.

Thank you to my co-chairs Betty Lou REALTOR® and Melissa Thompson, REMAX NOVA’S brokerage coordinator. Together we were able to plan and accomplish REMAX NOVA’s first fundraiser golf tournament.

Of course, a huge thank you to everyone who formed a team and came out to support the fundraiser. We hope you enjoyed playing golf as much as we enjoyed cheering you on!

To Canon Beazley, 2024 Children’s Miracle Network Champion. At just 15 years old, Canon has already raised over $64,000 for the IWK through his family’s famous House of Doom Halloween fundraiser. His passion for giving back, his leadership, and his dedication to the cause are truly inspiring. Decorating for 2025 House of Doom has already begun, so make sure you add this event to your calendar in October. This year, he became a real champion for our brokerage too, promoting the golf tournament through radio ads, spreading the word in the community, and helping rally support that made a measurable difference in our success. We’re so proud to have Canon as part of our extended REMAX NOVA family and grateful for everything he’s done to help make this event possible.

We’ve seen firsthand the teamwork and community it takes to pull off a fundraiser of this scale, but our ultimate goal, raising money for the IWK, remains at the heart of everything we do. The IWK holds a special place in our hearts, my own children were born there and cared for there, and we’ve seen firsthand the impact it has on families. That’s why it was such an honour to lead an initiative that would directly help the IWK. The impact is beyond words, which is why we’ll be hosting another tournament next year on June 15, 2025. Let’s keep swinging toward that $100,000 goal!
