Celebrating The Month Of Miracles

Every August, RE/MAX celebrates our partnership with the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). Together, we support children’s health services that make a difference in the lives of sick kids across the country. Supporting CMN hospitals like the IWK Health Centre in Halifax is just one of the many ways RE/MAX nova agents give back to their communities.

Since the partnership between RE/MAX and CMN started 30 years ago, Canadian RE/MAX agents have donated more than $89 million to their local children’s hospitals through the Miracle Home and Commercial Miracle Property Program.

CMN Canada raises funds and awareness for 12 children’s hospitals. Donations support local critical treatments and healthcare services, equipment, and research. In Nova Scotia, RE/MAX nova supports the IWK Foundation by donating a portion of every real estate transaction. In 2021, our agents raised $73,174 for the IWK and our brokerage was proud to be the top fundraiser in Atlantic Canada. Together, RE/MAX offices in the four Atlantic provinces raised $260,578 for local children’s hospitals.

Making a difference for children like Evelyn

Evelyn is active, outgoing, and loves to dance and do cartwheels. But in Grade 2, her life took a drastic turn. She developed a fever and sore jaw which both a walk-in clinic and an emergency room physician attributed to a virus. A week later, the pain and fever returned, and one side of her face was sore and swollen. After more physician visits, a blood test was ordered. That night, Evelyn’s mother got a call from the lab telling her to immediately take Evelyn to BC Children’s Hospital. Within hours, the family received unfathomable news – Evelyn had acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). If not treated quickly, this type of leukemia can be fatal.

Evelyn started chemotherapy the next day and was treated at BC Children’s Hospital. In the beginning, she received her ALL treatment every two weeks, for four days at a time. She completed her treatment in the fall of 2021 and is now back at school, seeing her friends, performing again, and full of life. Her form of cancer is very curable if the patient receives the right care at the right time. Thanks to BC Children’s Hospital, Evelyn quickly got the treatment she needed and is now thriving.

Help make more miracles happen

Evelyn’s story is one of the thousands of stories of children across Canada who stand strong in the face of illness and disease every day. These stories are full of hope, resilience and love, but they also show how great the need is. In 2021, there were nearly three million in-person and virtual patient visits to children’s hospitals from coast to coast. By choosing a RE/MAX agent who is part of the Miracle Home or Commercial Miracle Property program, you are helping these hospitals deliver vital care to sick children and make miracles happen. This exclusive RE/MAX program involves participating agents making donations on behalf of their clients after each property sale or lease. In 2021, RE/MAX affiliates across Canada donated more than $5.4 million to Canadian children’s hospitals.

Here’s how the program works

A RE/MAX agent who is participating in the program will designate your property as a Miracle Home or Commercial Miracle Property. A Miracle Home listing will display a specially branded RE/MAX for sale sign, which shows prospective buyers that their purchase will contribute to a good cause in the neighborhood they will be joining. Commercial Miracle Properties will be advertised locally, regionally, nationally, and across North America. Once your home or commercial property sells or leases, your agent will donate to your local CMN member hospital on your behalf. You can feel good knowing that when you choose to list with a RE/MAX agent who participates in the Miracle Home and Commercial Miracle Property Program, you are also choosing to help make a difference in a child’s life.

Thank you for choosing RE/MAX and supporting children’s health.
